Perricone MD road test
Premium anti-aging skin care products make big claims and are often very expensive – so at woman with drive we have decided to road test some of the most talked about luxe regimes.
Our first test is Perricone MD. Founded by dermatologist to the stars Dr Nicholas Perricone, this is a high-performance skincare range. We invested $652 on products prescribed specifically for my skin concerns.
My face is typical of a woman aged 46. I have a few sun spots that seem to be getting darker, some red spots on my cheeks (broken capillaries), dark circles under my eyes and wrinkles developing around my lips, eyes and forehead.
I was very excited to try Perricone MD as a friend of mine had recommended the range. While in Malibu California, I visited a dedicated Perricone MD store that enchanted me with its amazing interior fit-out and service. I was sold and couldn’t wait to try the recommended products. I made sure I used them exactly as directed for three months. My diet and exercise routine remained the same throughout the three month test to make sure there was no bias. There are the products I tried.
Serum Prep – $218 (177ml)
Description: Serum Prep is a unique face lifting serum containing high levels of DMAE that helps to firm and tone skin, while dramatically diminishing the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles.
Blue Plasma – $139 (59ml)
Description: A unique, non-acidic daily peel designed to deliver all the benefits of a traditional peel without redness or irritation. This cutting edge liquid treatment works with bio-specific peeling to attack only dead skin cells.
High Potency Eye Lift – $148 (15ml)
Description: Works to lift skin for a visibly transformed appearance while minimizing deep lines, wrinkles and bags under eyes with Dr Perricone’s patented anti-aging to address loss of elasticity and help brighten skin’s appearance.
Face Finishing Moisturiser – $95 (59ml)
Description: A lightweight, superior facial moisturiser formulated with powerful antioxidants to help firm skin’s appearance and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s formulated with three powerful anti-ageing sciences: Alpha Lipoic Acid, DMAE and Vitamin C Ester.
Lip Plumper – $52 (14ml)
Description: This proprietary formula helps restore lips to a more youthful appearance. Alpha Lipoic Acid and DMAE work synergistically to minimise the appearance of fine lines, provide superior antioxidant protection, plump lips and enhance contour.
THE RESULT:
The products were really lovely to use – even the Blue Plasma which had a slightly ‘fishy’ smell. My skin certainly felt smoother after use however did my skin improve? Unfortunately after three months of use as prescribed, I found no difference in the look of my skin and there was no change in any of the concerns outlined. Of course everyone is different, and the results I experienced may be different from yours.
While I was disappointed, I remain hopeful that my next road test, the high end French anti-aging regime Chantecaille, will be different.
