holiday dress-ups
Shopping for a Summer holiday wardrobe can be a pleasure or a chore depending on the day. Some days you find exactly what you want, and other days nothing seems to fit. Having a plan can help, so we have found some great advice and identified some key items for this Summer.
Australian fashion designer Andrea Yasmin has her own self-named brand and a reputation for creating versatile pieces that flatter a woman’s body, so we asked for her tips on looking and feeling amazing on holidays.
“Holidays are the perfect time for me to have fun with fashion. I actually have time to “dress up,” says Andrea.
“My secret to successful packing is to load up with lots of different accessories. Look for designs that are versatile and practical – that can morph from day to night with a simple change of shoes and jewellery,” she says.
“Prints are really popular at the moment and being on holiday is the perfect time to have fun with them. They seem to give me instant joy and a feeling of femininity.
“Most of my range is designed in a beautiful fluid jersey, which travels well as it doesn’t crease and washes easily without the worry of ironing or dry cleaning. Look for these types of fabrics so you can relax and have time to play and look fabulous,” she said.
There are a few key fashion items in resort wear this year that we think are perfect for a womanwithdrive.
All Purpose Shirt
Long flowing button up shirts are a great look this season and you can wear them in a number of ways. You can pop them over your swimsuit, button them up and team with shorts, or in some cases add a matching belt and you’re ready to go out for dinner. Tallulah does a great selection this season and you can find them at www.talulah.com.au
Open Knit Cover-up
These are good for wearing directly over swimmers or as an addition to your poolside tee. Most designers are doing at least one this season but you can find a dynamic selection at Victoria’s Secret under the swimwear section and then seek out ‘Cover ups & Beach Dresses’ – www.victoriassecret.com. Local designer Natalie Lane of Pilot Athletic does a fab open knit top that works with swimmers, gym gear or jeans – www.pilotathletic.com.au.
Maxi Dress and Skirt
You might have a few in your wardrobe, but there’s always room for more. Bali brand Mister Zimi does some striking designs at great prices – www.misterzimi.com.au. Roopa Pemmaraju features the original artworks of renown Indigenous Australian artists and has some wonderful maxis – www.roopapemmaraju.com.
Versatile Resort Dresses
Choosing fabrics that are easily washed and won’t need ironing is a must and Andrea Yasmin has a number of dresses that you can literally throw in your suitcase and wear on arrival. They can take you from the pool to a romantic dinner on the beach. www.andreayasmin.com
