Cruising the Coast
Last week woman with drive was invited to a special two-day event filled with great food, great company and of course, great cars. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to drive the brand new Porsche Macan before its official launch in June, and also spend some time with some wonderful women with drive.
A road trip is always more fun when you’re in the company of friends and we were lucky enough to be with some amazing ‘women with drive’ including TV presenters, Sonia Kruger and Chris Bath, shopping guru Kathy Sheeran, TV personality Magdalena Roze, AFR columnist Jacquie Hayes and Jackie Epstein from Herald Sun Confidential.
Arriving in true ‘woman with drive’ style, we were transported down to the RACV Torquay Resort in our very own private helicopters – it was an experience to remember. What spectacular views! All fears of heights were thrown out the window thanks to such jaw-dropping scenery.
If you have never stayed at the RACV Torquay Resort, be sure to book in for a long weekend – you definitely will not regret it. The architecture of the resort is incredible, and it’s built with compressed sandstones made with locally sourced material. Set upon a golf course, which looks over the ocean, its 5-star Day Spa is a beautiful setting for sheer serenity and rejuvenation.
While the idea of being pampered all day sounds like a dream, we did have something much exciting to spend quality time with instead – the Macan.
What better way to test out the driving dynamics of the Macan than along the iconic Great Ocean Road? The car is smooth and sexy yet has the grunt of a sportscar, so taking it for a spin along the Great Ocean Road was the perfect test track.
We couldn’t believe how easy it was to steer the car around tight corners and still feel like all four wheels were locked into the road. The strength of it when you hit the accelerator yet the responding to you elegantly and calmly impressed us. And all the features!! Panoramic sunroofs are definitely a necessity (anyone looking to order!) so that the little ones in the back can gaze upwards at the sky instead on whinging.
The official launch date for the Macan is June 14 and the first models to arrive will be the Macan S, Macan S Diesel, and the Macan Turbo. As the name suggests the Macan Turbo will be THE most powerful compact SUV sprinting from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds. That will leave most cars lagging behind as soon as the light goes green and other motorists in sheer envy.
