Bradley Cooper

Actor Bradley Cooper is obviously a great looking guy. Many people agree with People Magazine who voted him the Sexiest Man Alive. But lesser known facts are that he speaks fluent French, loves to cook and he is a teetotaller.

In his latest film, Silver Linings Playbook, Cooper received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of a Philadelphia high school teacher just released from a mental institution.

Born in 1975, his mother is Italian, father Irish and he has one younger sister. They were brought up in Pennsylvania. He graduated with Honours in English from Georgetown University and then graduated from The Actors Studio in New York City.

Women tend to be attracted to men who can speak one of the romance languages, and Cooper ticks that box. He decided to learn French while at University and spent six months as an exchange student in Aix-en-Provence. It has proven to be very handy for impressing French-speaking audiences during interviews. Here is a video of one example.

If you think he’s rating pretty high in the rankings to become the thinking women’s perfect guy, it only gets better. Cooper loves to cook and as a teenager spent much of his summer days in the kitchen learning from his Italian grandmother. He says that food was a huge part of his Italian household and he maintains his love of cooking. In a 2009 interview on IMDB (Internet Movie Database) he said “I seriously love to cook … my grandmother was an amazing cook. As a kid I used to help her make handmade pasta, cavatelli and ravioli. It was one of my favourite things to do. I love the idea of making whatever is in the fridge into something”.

As a star of The Hangover, it’s ironic that Cooper has been a teetotaller since age 29. In a 2012 interview on IMDB he said, “I don’t drink anymore. Being sober helps a great deal… I remember one day looking at my life, my apartment, my dogs, and I thought, ‘What’s happening?’. I realized I wasn’t going to live up to my potential, and that scared the hell out of me. I thought, ‘Wow, I’m actually gonna ruin my life. I’m really gonna ruin it’.”

In a candid interview on Inside The Actors Studio, aired on the Bravo network in 2011, Cooper answered the Proust questionnaire which is designed to expose an individual’s personality. Here are his answers:
