Angelique Kerber: A Role Model Of Excellence & Grace
Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, Dr. Oliver Blume, has congratulated Porsche Brand Ambassador, Angelique Kerber, for her top notch performance at Wimbledon yesterday.
“Compliments Angelique Kerber. She has played a fantastic tournament,” he said. “After her triumph at the Australian Open, to now have reached the Wimbledon final is an outstanding achievement.”
“We are proud of our Brand Ambassador. Her performance is a spur for not only the young hopefuls we support together with the German Tennis Association in the Porsche Talent Team Germany. Angelique Kerber is a role model for young people far beyond the sporting world.”
Kerber missed out on fulfilling her dream of winning Wimbledon when she was beaten in a top class final 7-5, 6-3 by Serena Williams. Earlier in the year she beat the world No. 1 in the final of the Australian Open to win her first Grand Slam of her career.
Yesterday, it was her fierce commitment to excellence and her spirit of sportsmanship that won the hearts of tennis fans and the media. Soon after the final, Kerber tweeted a thank you to Williams which read, “Big congrats to Serena Williams. Thank you for your support that makes this so special!”
She was later quoted as saying, “I was not the one who lost the match. She won it. She played unbelievable. I also played a good match. That makes it a little easier for me.”
