Amenities to Remember

While we love five-star service, equal to this is a hotel stay with a difference! Why touch the mini-bar at Surrey Hotel, when you can enjoy your very own mixologist? Hate hotel pillows? The Benjamin Hotel has their very own Sleep Concierge on call, so you will be assured the perfect night’s sleep, every night. Whether it’s a Tanning Butler, a Sleep Concierge or even a Pet Psychic, there’s a hotel stay with a difference to please everyone.

1. Soap Concierge, Viceroy Riviera Maya, Mexico

Relaxation or invigoration? After a long day of travelling, there’s a soap for every occasion at the newly refurbished Viceroy. The soap concierge will visit you upon arrival and offer a variety of organic soaps made in the nearby Mayan communities. The scents change according to the seasons (melon in Spring and cinnamon in Winter), each with its own healing benefits.

2. Mixologist, Surrey Hotel, New York

A service that James Bond himself would be impressed with. Within minutes of your call, the 24-hour in-room mixologist will arrive at your door with a fully-stocked cart. First select your drink of choice, will that be shaken or stirred? Next, the mixologist will demonstrate the ways of whipping-up a round so guests can then re-create their own cocktails. The bartender then exits the room, leaving the cart behind for the guests to enjoy!

3. Surf Butler, St Regis Monarch Beach Resort, California

A butler, but not as you know it. These experts and trained lifeguards will take your exact measurements before fitting you out with the perfect wetsuit and board. For first time Gidgets and Moondoggies, the butler will also offer personalised surf instructions. For the more experienced beach babes, they’ll share local wave conditions and secret breaks in the area.

4. Tanning Butler, Ritz Carlton, South Beach

You won’t need to struggle with those hard-to-reach areas when applying sunscreen with Miguel Pando at your pool deck. If you thought you’d heard it all, Miguel is a qualified and trademarked SPF specialist whose sole job is to aid guests in maximising their tans and minimising sun damage. From 11am to 3pm each day, Miguel strolls the pool deck and assists guests with sun protection products. He’ll even apply the sunscreen for you and clean your sunglasses afterwards.

5. Sleep Concierge, The Benjamin, New York

For a heavenly sleep, consult the Sleep Concierge at The Benjamin. Guests choose from a menu featuring a dozen pillows – from water filled, to the NASA designed iPod ready pillow. Or maybe you need the Executive Nap, which includes a sleep mask, lavender linen oil, coconut water and a wake-up call.

6. Fragrance Butler, Rosewood Hotels, North America and Saudi Arabia

Can’t carry all your favourite perfumes on the plane because of the liquid restrictions? Worry no more, because at selected Rosewood Hotels, there is a 24-hour Fragrance Butler on call. The butler arrives at your suite with a menu filled with fragrance options tailored to the hotel. Fragrances include Chanel No. 5, Bulgari Black, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle for women (or for men), the Bulgari Pour Homme, Tom Ford, and Hermes Terre d’Hermes.

7. Tea Sommelier, The Lanesborough, London

The Lanesborough treats its tea as seriously as fine restaurants treat their wine. Guests can enjoy an award-winning afternoon tea and discuss the characteristics and their selections with the infamous in-house Tea Sommelier, as well as various preparation techniques for their choice of tea.

8. Pet Psychic, Hotel Monaco, Portland

Many hotels offer pet residency or pampering but this hotel has stepped it up a notch, and may be the only hotel in the world that offers a pet psychic. The psychic works with animals and their owners during a complementary wine hour to solve behavioural issues and improve relationships with their four-legged friends.
