The 50 Best Dressed Residents Of The Gold Coast
What earns a woman the coveted title of Best Dressed? Is it a flawlessly put together ensemble? The confidence to cleverly turn a tried and tested look on its head? Or her innate ability to make anything look a million bucks?
According to Chantay Logan, Editor of Gold Coast Eye, style is too subjective to be pigeonholed which is why the “big guns” are summoned to host its iconic annual 50 Best Dressed List.
Joining Chantay on the judging panel this year were model, TV personality and David Jones ambassador, Jesinta Campbell, and celebrity hairdresser, Oscar Cullinan.
“In the 15 years the Gold Coast Bulletin has been running 50 Best Dressed, our fashion scene has come of age,” Chantay told woman with drive after yet another successful event at Jupiters Hotel and Casino on October 14.
“With a retail gold rush offering unprecedented access to global players, thriving local labels and a creative market culture, we are spoilt for choice and it shows.”
“The one thing all the judges agreed on that evening was that choosing our finalists just gets tougher as the style standard soars. People will not always agree with our choices, but it never fails to get them talking!”
The 50 Best Dressed List is one of the Gold Coast Bulletin’s most well-known and anticipated events. This year saw collaboration with Porsche Centre Gold Coast, which Chantay described as “a better fit than a pair of Louboutins.”
A Porsche 911 Carrera S in Miami Blue was thus the striking centrepiece amidst the softly elegant white and pastel décor that washed over the poolside.
“We were thrilled at the invitation to partner for a wonderful event that fits perfectly with the Porsche brand here on the Gold Coast,” said Damien Holley, Porsche Centre Gold Coast’s Dealer Principal.
“The Porsche brand is synonymous with style, presence, confidence and luxury, which each of the 50 ladies exuded.”
In a show of support for style and fashion on the Gold Coast, the 50 Best Dressed winner has been given the keys to a Porsche for a month.
That lucky lady is Fiona Edwards-Bassingthwaighte, the creative mind behind fashion blog, fifideluxe.
As trays of canapés made their rounds and champagne flowed freely, seven of the Gold Coast’s best dressed women shared their thoughts on style with woman with drive.

Lace, metallic, or animal print?
Definitely all three! Adding variations in texture and colour add so much depth to your fashion choices.
What do luxe layers mean to you?
Luxe layers definitely add an element of elegance to your outfits. Beautiful leather, gold and silver hardware, faux fur, and luxurious fabrications like silks and cottons add instant quality and interest.

Who is your fashion inspiration?
I am athleisure obsessed and my inspiration fashion icon is Gig Hadid. That girl can do no wrong! Gigi always looks classy with a bit of edge and is always one step ahead in the fashion industry. She can make anything look good, from a pair of trackies with heels to a killer dress with sneakers.
What fashion accessories are travel must-haves and why?
A pair of sneakers – Stylish yet functional for walking and exploring.
A white t-shirt – An essential holiday item that can be dressed up or down and re-worn with multiple outfit options.
My Louis Vuitton shoulder strap clutch – Great for holding all my necessitates and the shoulder strap is perfect for walking, plus adds that extra security.

Who is your fashion inspiration?
Gigi Hadid. I love her style. Whatever she wears, be it gym wear to high fashion, she constantly looks classy.
What fashion accessories are travel must-haves and why?
Sunglasses. Not only for sunny days but also for those after-a-big-night-out kind of days! Also a nice handbag and watch to style any outfit.

What would you like to see making a fashion comeback?
I would like to see neon/electric colours make a comeback as more of street fashion than festival attire. I love the bright electric colours done tastefully. Also leather bike jackets, which are cool and effortless over a white tee and jeans. And corsets for a strong and structured silhouette. I love how curvy and sexy it makes a woman look.

Who is your fashion inspiration?
Gigi Hadid. Granted, she would look good in a hessian bag, but I like that she is a bit quirky in her fashion sense.
What fashion accessories are travel must-haves and why?
I am at airports a lot, so for me it is a cute and functional laptop bag. When I am in between cities with varying climates, I rely on a fur vest, which is super light to cart around but super warm.

What is it about the way you dress that makes you an individual?
I embraced my curves a few years back after fighting them in my 20’s. In my 30’s, I said bring it on and it was the best thing I ever did. Dressing became fun because I was not trying to be something I was not. It helped me find a style so shopping became easier. You cannot get more individual than your shape.
